A Rich Environment For Learning in Richmond, VA
At the Autism Services of Virginia center, every child will receive one-on-one care, support, and treatment. Each child is assigned to their own behavior technician, who will track and implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs from the client’s individualized support plan (ISP).
The center is a safe and structured environment that provides opportunities for our clients to engage with their peers and teach them appropriate social skills. The clinical team will use social activities such as arts and crafts, gameplay, circle time, and centers to promote appropriate language skills, social skills, pre-academic skills, and motor skills.
The ABA center is also a great environment to teach toilet training. The clinical team will instruct their clients to use the bathroom on a timed schedule (either on a 15-minute, 30-minute, or hour schedule based on the child’s skill level) to create opportunities for the client to use the toilet. The clinical team uses preferred items and reinforcement after the client uses the bathroom to increase the likelihood that the client will use the toilet in the future and in other environments, like school.

Benefits of Center Based Programs for Your Child
Center-based treatment can provide a more structured environment than In-Home ABA Therapy. Within the center staff can also have more materials, resources, and support available to them to care for your child. By making use of center-based ABA Therapy, a family is able to better prepare a child for structured learning environments like school. The child will also be exposed to peer involvement and social interaction on a daily basis which is not easily experienced through In-Home ABA Therapy.
